There has been a Christian place of worship on the site of the current church since 1862 although the first Methodist Chapel in Cadoxton was built in 1815 and we trace our fellowship from there. Although the church building has changed over the years and congregations have grown, diminished and grown again, the desire to see God and His Son Jesus Christ glorified has never changed.
Cadoxton is part of the Vale of Glamorgan Circuit of the Methodist Church which comprises churches in Barry, Dinas Powys, Penarth, St Athan and also relates to the Amelia Trust Farm.
At Cadoxton the congregation embraces all ages from babies to people in their 90’s and the worship style is one that seeks to be relevant across this broad spectrum. Led by our Worship Group, we sing modern songs, but we also love to sing traditional hymns accompanied by the church organ.
Whilst we have changed and adapted our style of worship to suit changing times we will not compromise on the message of the Gospel. As a church we believe that Jesus is the only way to get to heaven, ‘Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved’ Acts 4 verse 12.
We know that Jesus is alive, is our Saviour, wants to be our friend and is interested in every aspect of our lives. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and is without error. So many people today, however, say the Bible isn’t relevant or make up their minds about Jesus without reading a single word from it. At Cadoxton, we proclaim the truth about Jesus from the Bible and we encourage people to take Jesus into their hearts and live for Him day by day.
